On Friday, May 9, 2014, Wilson Elementary School received an award assembly from Payson City Employee Wellness Program. The assembly was given to Wilson Elementary because they had the most registered participants for the 4th Annual Pay It Forward 5k/1 mile Challenge on April 26. Temkin International donated the funds for the Elementary School Challenge which purchased playground balls for each classroom. At the assembly, the school was given a plaque to display at their school and was surprised with guests from around the community. Payson City Royalty, 2014 State Champion Payson High School Wrestling Team and Leo the Lion from Real Salt Lake came to congratulate Wilson for their accomplishment. Temkin, Payson City Royalty and Payson High School Wrestling Team each spoke to the students about how to be healthy, active and drug free. There was also interactive games played with the students such as “Leo Says,” Push-up contest and Milk Jug Catch. It was a great assembly and everyone involved had a great time. Payson City Employee Wellness Program invited the community to participate in the Pay It Forward 5k/1 mile Challenge next April and to help your Elementary School win the Challenge next year. The Pay It Forward 5k/1 mile Challenge is not a race but a challenge to all ages to become more active and healthier. Many people do not participate in 5k or 1 mile walk/run because they don’t believe in themselves or do not have the money to participate in them. The goal of this event is to give the encouragement to the participants that they can complete this task and many more in the future.
